Mine had the same problem when I got it and I ended up wiring the solenoids to a switch so I can select the diff independent of the 4wd switch. The 2 solenoids might be faulty or the switch in the gearbox could be faulty. To identify the vacum lead it should come from a canister about half way back down the left chassis rail Check you have vacum here or the above will not work.įrom here to a proper fix is one step at a time. This forces the front diff into 2wd mode so you wont be able to use off road until fixing properly but it will stop the grinding noises. Connect it to the other side and the light will go off and stay off. If its the 4wd by stick rather than button a quick fix to get it going again would be to take the small cover off the left hand side of the diff locate the vacume line and connect it directly to the big diaphram. Bighorn to cover that and of course the owners manual. The Frontera covers everything excepth the diesel motor and trans. If there are any special requests list them in a reply and I will action when I can and delete the post Ive started loading manuals onto mediafire for easy sharing. As I load more I will list them here.
